We are the people
who pick up the
phone.
Fifteen years ago we started as a team of technicians who believed that security companies in Kenya were letting clients down β installing cheaply, disappearing afterwards, and ignoring calls. So we built a different kind of company.
Electric Fences Kenya was founded in 2009 by a team of security professionals who had spent years watching Kenyan property owners get let down. Good products installed badly. Systems with no battery backup that went dead every time KPLC tripped. Cheap energizers from grey-market suppliers that failed inside 18 months with no warranty support. And phone numbers that rang out the moment something went wrong.
We are based at Ridgeways, Kiambu Road, Nairobi β and we deploy mobile installation and repair teams that respond across all 47 counties. Not "we cover Kenya" in a marketing sense. In the real sense: we have installed fences in Laikipia conservancies, on Nakuru flower farms, in Mombasa beach estates, on Nyeri tea farms, and in Nairobi apartments from Karen to Ruaka.
We are an authorised dealer and installer for Nemtek, Stafix, and JVA β the three most trusted energizer brands in Africa. This matters more than it sounds. It means every product we supply is genuine and carries full manufacturer warranty. It means when you call us about a fault, we can access technical support from the manufacturer directly. And it means if you try to claim warranty from us and we stall, you can verify our authorised status yourself on the manufacturer's website.
Every fence we install includes 12V battery backup as standard. We say this every time because so many cheaper installers skip it. Your fence running on battery backup means it stays live for 24 hours when KPLC cuts at 11pm β which is exactly when an opportunist would notice the fence is dead. This is not an upsell. It is a basic requirement of a fence that actually works, and we include it in every single job at no extra charge.
We do not win every job on price. We are not always the cheapest quote you will receive. What we are is the company you will still be able to call in three years when a wire snaps during the long rains, and someone will answer, and a technician will come. That is the company we decided to build in 2009, and it is still the company we are today.
Four Specialist Teams. One Company.
Electric Fences Kenya is not a one-man band with a van. We have specialist teams for each service we offer β so the person installing your fence has done it thousands of times before, not the same person who answers the phone and does the accounts.
Specialist installers for residential top wall, free-standing, ClearVu, solar farm, and wildlife fences. Each technician is trained on Nemtek, Stafix, and JVA systems. Background-checked. KEBS-compliant on every job.
A dedicated repair team β not the same guys doing new installations. Same-day response in Nairobi and Kiambu. Next-day nationwide. We repair all brands, not just systems we installed.
Specialist team for solar-powered farm fences, livestock management fences, and wildlife deterrent systems. Trained in bi-polar wiring techniques for Kenya's rocky highland soils. Laikipia, Narok, Kajiado, Rift Valley specialists.
Free site assessment for any property anywhere in Kenya. We measure, map, and recommend the right system for your specific security risk β without trying to oversell you a system you don't need.
The security problems Kenyans bring us β and how we solve them
Every client comes to us with a specific problem. Here are the six we hear most. If yours is on the list, you are in the right place.
You invested in a fence that stops working every time there's a power outage β which is exactly when an opportunist would check your perimeter.
You call their number after something goes wrong. Rings out. WhatsApp delivered, never read. This is the most common complaint we hear from clients switching to us.
A grey-market or counterfeit energizer installed by a cheaper company. No serial number. No manufacturer warranty. No way to get a replacement part. Common when you buy on price alone.
Human-wildlife conflict is devastating for farms bordering wildlife corridors in Laikipia, Narok, Kajiado, and the Aberdares. Standard residential energizers are not adequate.
One company quotes KES 45,000 for a 50Γ100 plot. Another quotes KES 145,000. The cheap one excludes the energizer. The expensive one is padding margins. Neither explains what's included.
The fence and the alarm system were installed by different companies who never integrated them. An intruder cuts the wire and there's no alert β just a dead section of fence that nobody notices until morning.
What you get from us vs. what you might get elsewhere
We are not the only electric fence company in Kenya. Here is what actually separates a professional installation from a cheap one β in plain language.
Real properties. Real problems. Real outcomes.
These are not marketing testimonials. They are the kinds of conversations we have with clients β the actual problems they brought us and what happened after.
We had lost crops to elephant raids for four consecutive seasons. By the fourth year we nearly gave up farming the land entirely. We tried motion lights, noise deterrents, community patrols β nothing worked consistently. Electric Fences Kenya came, assessed the soil conditions, and recommended a bi-polar solar fence with a high-joule Stafix energizer rather than what we had seen other farms install. They explained that the standard residential energizer other installers quoted would not be adequate for elephant deterrence in our soil type. The installation took four days. We have not had a single successful elephant incursion in the eighteen months since. The fence has paid for itself many times over in one harvest.
The previous installer's energizer failed after 14 months. They were unreachable. Electric Fences Kenya replaced the energizer with a genuine JVA unit, added the battery backup that had been omitted, and sorted the earthing that had been done incorrectly. They found three issues the original installer missed β and fixed everything the same day they assessed it.
Our school board needed a fence that was KEBS-compliant β our insurance required it β and that would not harm students who accidentally contacted it. Electric Fences Kenya installed ClearVu anti-climb panels with a Nemtek energizer system and provided the KEBS compliance certificate for our insurance. The entire school perimeter was completed within the school holiday. Parents noticed immediately.
We had experienced repeated perimeter breaches at our Nairobi warehouse. Electric Fences Kenya integrated the electric fence with our existing alarm system and CCTV β something no other installer we spoke to could do. The fence now triggers our alarm on contact and simultaneously sends an SMS alert to our security company. No breach since installation.

Things we genuinely believe about security fencing in Kenya
If your fence gives you false confidence β you think you are secure, but you are not β it is doing more harm than good. This is why battery backup is non-negotiable for us on every installation.
A KES 40,000 installation that fails in 18 months and leaves you with no support is far more expensive than a KES 85,000 installation that works for 15 years and comes with a company you can call. The maths is not complicated.
A residential Nairobi home needs a different system to a Laikipia elephant-corridor farm. Applying the same energizer and same strand configuration to every job is lazy and ineffective. We design each fence for the specific threat the client faces.
We give every client an itemised written quote and explain what everything is for. Clients who understand what they are paying for are clients who maintain their system, call us for repairs, and refer their neighbours. That is good for everyone.
The most sophisticated fence in the world does nothing if it is switched off because it keeps tripping the power or causing false alarms. Reliability is more important than specification. A simple, well-installed system beats an advanced, poorly-installed one every time.
When we finish installing your fence, the relationship is not over β it is just starting. The fence will need maintenance, the battery will eventually need replacing, and something will break during a storm. Being reachable when that happens is what separates us from companies that treat installation as the end of the transaction.
