Get Free-Standing Electric Fences in Kenya

Electric Fence Consultancy

Here’s why you shouldn’t install a fence in Kenya without an expert assessment and customised plan.

Investing in an electric fence is one of the smartest security decisions a property owner in Kenya can make. It’s a powerful deterrent, an effective barrier, and an affordable, low-maintenance solution compared to traditional security measures.

However, an electric fence is more than just wires and a shock box. To ensure it is safe, legal, and truly effective, you need professional Electric Fencing Consultancy.

Why Clients Come to Us First

The questions we hear every week from Kenyan property owners

These are real questions real clients bring us — homeowners, farmers, school directors, and business owners who aren't sure what they need. We answer them all for free.

The Problem
"I've received three different quotes with three wildly different prices. I don't know who to trust."
Our Answer

We give you an independent assessment and itemised quote. Every component listed with its price. You can compare our quote against others line by line — and we'll explain exactly why any gaps exist.

The Problem
"I don't know whether I need a top-wall fence, a free-standing fence, ClearVu, or something else entirely."
Our Answer

The right fence depends on your property layout, threat level, budget, and existing structures. We assess all of these during the visit and recommend the specific system — and brand — that fits your situation.

The Problem
"My fence dies every time KPLC cuts power at night. I don't know if I need a new energizer or just a battery."
Our Answer

This is usually a missing or failed 12V backup battery — not a new energizer. We'll diagnose your existing system, tell you exactly what's needed, and quote only for what's necessary. Not for what maximises our margin.

The Problem
"Elephants raided my crops again this season. I installed a cheap fence but it clearly isn't working."
Our Answer

Standard residential energizers are inadequate for elephant deterrence. We specify high-joule energizers (Stafix X12i or JMB JUMBO) with bi-polar wiring designed for Kenya's rocky highland soils — and explain why the difference matters.

The Problem
"My insurance company says my fence must be KEBS-compliant. I don't know what that means or whether mine qualifies."
Our Answer

KEBS compliance means correct energizer specs, warning signs at legal intervals, proper earthing, and compliant wire gauge. We assess your existing fence, confirm what's missing, and provide a compliance certificate with every installation.

The Problem
"I'm building a new property and want to plan the fence correctly from the start — not fix problems later."
Our Answer

Getting the design right at the planning stage saves 30–50% compared to retrofitting. We'll work with your architect's drawings or visit the site to design the optimal fence layout, energizer size, and gate contact positions from day one.

None of the above? We handle every other electric fence question too — for free.

The Consultation Process

What happens during your free site assessment

1
We confirm and schedule your visit

WhatsApp us or call — we respond within 2 hours and confirm a visit time that works for you. We can schedule as early as the next business day in Nairobi. Visits to major towns outside Nairobi are arranged within 48–72 hours.

2
Perimeter survey and measurement

Our technician arrives with measuring equipment and maps your full property perimeter. We record the total length, number of corners, gate positions, entry points, and any existing wall integrity issues that affect the design.

3
Vulnerability and threat assessment

We identify the specific security risks on your property — blind spots, low sections, access points near adjacent buildings, vegetation that may impede the fence line, and areas most likely to be targeted. This shapes the design, not generic template advice.

4
System design and energizer specification

We specify the right fence type, the correct energizer brand and model (Nemtek, Stafix, or JVA) sized for your exact perimeter length, the number of wire strands, post spacing, and earthing requirements. We explain every decision in plain language.

5
Integration advice — alarm, CCTV, gate motors

If you have or plan to install CCTV cameras, an alarm system, or gate automation, we advise on how to integrate these with your fence for a unified security layer. A fence connected to your armed response is dramatically more effective than a standalone one.

6
Written itemised quote — within 24 hours

Within 24 hours of the visit you receive a written quotation. Every component listed separately: energizer brand and model with price, battery backup, wire gauge and length, posts, earth rods, lightning diverter, KEBS warning signs, and labour. The price you see is the price you pay — nothing added on completion.

What Clients Say

The difference a consultation made for them

★★★★★
"

I had received two other quotes before calling Electric Fences Kenya. When their technician came for the free assessment, he pointed out that one company had completely omitted battery backup and the other had quoted the wrong energizer size for our 380m perimeter. The consultation saved me from a fence that would have failed within 18 months.

I didn't even know I needed a consultancy visit. I just called with a question about which energizer to buy. They came to the farm, checked our soil (the earthing system the previous installer put in was wrong for our rocky highland conditions), and redesigned the entire earthing configuration. Our fence voltage went from 2,100V to 9,400V after they fixed it.

Our school board needed KEBS compliance documentation for our insurance renewal. Electric Fences Kenya assessed our existing fence, told us exactly what needed to change, gave us an itemised quote for the upgrades, and then issued the compliance certificate after completion. The entire process was transparent, fast, and exactly what was promised.

Common Questions

About our consultancy service

Is the consultancy visit really free — no hidden charges?
Completely free. Zero payment for the site visit, the security assessment, the energizer specification, or the written quotation. We charge nothing until you decide to proceed with an installation — and only then do we invoice, based on the written quote you have already agreed. No surprises.
What if I get a consultation but don't use you for the installation?
That's completely fine. We'd rather you end up with the right fence from the right installer than the wrong one from us. Our free assessment has no strings attached. That said, clients who receive our written quote — which itemises every component and price — frequently choose us because the transparency makes comparison straightforward.
How long does the site visit take?
A standard residential property (50×100 to 1 acre) takes 30–45 minutes. Larger commercial or farm properties take 1–2 hours depending on complexity. We'll give you an estimated duration when we confirm the appointment.
Can you review a quote I've already received from another company?
Yes — and we do this regularly. Bring us the existing quote and we'll go through it component by component: confirm what's correctly specified, identify what's missing (battery backup is the most common omission), flag anything that's overpriced, and tell you what you can negotiate. This service is also free.
Do you provide consultancy for farms and wildlife areas outside Nairobi?
Yes — we provide consultancy across all 47 counties. For Nairobi and Kiambu, we can usually visit within 24 hours. For farms in Laikipia, Narok, Nakuru, Meru, and other counties, we schedule mobile team visits — typically within 72 hours. For large conservancy projects, we arrange a dedicated assessment visit with a senior technician. Call or WhatsApp to discuss your location.
What is KEBS compliance and do I legally need it?
Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) guidelines for electric fence systems require: approved energizer specifications, warning signs at legally mandated intervals along the fence line, correct earthing configuration, and compliant wire gauge. While installation of a non-compliant fence is not automatically a criminal offence, some insurance policies now require KEBS compliance as a condition of coverage, and some lease agreements for commercial properties include the same requirement. We provide compliance documentation with every installation.
Can you assess a fence that's already installed and not working correctly?
Yes — this is one of the most common consultation requests we receive. Clients with an existing fence that's giving a weak shock, sounding false alarms, or failing during KPLC outages. We visit, test the voltage at multiple points around the perimeter, check the earthing resistance, load-test the battery, and inspect the energizer. We then give you a written diagnosis and repair quote. The diagnostic visit is arranged here.
What energizer brands do you specify and why?
We are an authorised dealer for Nemtek, Stafix, and JVA — the three most trusted energizer brands in Africa. We specify the brand that best matches the application: Nemtek (Wizord 2 from KES 19,500; Druid series) for residential and commercial security with armed response integration; Stafix (X6i from KES 78,000) for farm and livestock fencing where the energizer must run interchangeably on mains, battery, or solar; and JVA (MB IP series from KES 48,000) for smartphone monitoring and conservancy applications. We never recommend a brand based on margin — we recommend based on your specific use case.
